At around 8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 17th, a raid was conducted at a brothel fronting as a massage parlor in Phnom Penh by the Municipal Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection (AHTJP) Police, supported by AIM SWAT Officers. The raid was the culmination of a covert operation acting on information that young girls were being sold for sex at the premise.

During the raid, 3 minors and 3 adults were rescued. The youngest minor was only 12 years old. One trafficker was arrested at the scene. Officers searched for and seized evidence at the brothel, and then it was officially closed by Police, the Prosecutor, and local authorities.

During interviews with the victims, they all shared that they had been sold for sexual services to the profit of the trafficker, who was subsequently detained for court and charged with child sex trafficking-related offenses. The 3 minors have been transferred to AIM Restoration Home where they are now receiving rehabilitative and aftercare services. They will be represented by the AIM SWAT legal team through the upcoming court proceedings.
