A young Cambodian woman was trafficked to China and sold for marriage and her trafficker has just been arrested.
The victim’s mother filed a report with the police which led to the arrest of a woman from the T’bong Khmom province on Friday, November 16. The arrest was achieved with the collaborative efforts of AIM SWAT and the Kratie Cambodian Police.
The suspect was interviewed and partially admitted to the crime which led to her receiving trafficking charges. She is now awaiting her trial from prison. While the victim is still in China, efforts are being made by the SWAT China Team and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to rescue and repatriate her.
