Six Rescued, Including 3 Minors, at Home Raid in Phnom Penh

At around 4pm on Thursday, October 26th, the Phnom Penh Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection (AHTJP) Police, together with AIM SWAT Investigators, raided a house which fronted as a massage parlor but was actually being used to sell minors for sex.

The raid was the culmination of a covert operation that lasted more than a week and resulted in the rescue of 3 minors and 3 women and the arrest of one suspected trafficker.

During interviews after the raid, all girls and women shared that they had been sold for sex to the profit of the suspected trafficker. The suspect was subsequently detained, taken to court, charged with child sex trafficking related offenses, and remanded in prison.

All 3 minors were transferred to AIM Restoration Home and the women to AIM Transitional Home in Phnom Penh via the Cambodian Government District Social Affairs Office. AIM SWAT’s Legal Team is providing free representation to those rescued for the duration of the court case.
